If you are being bullied or know someone being bullied remember to keep your spirits high, remain who you are and never make any apologies for that. You have a Attitude!

So, I was in Wal-Mart and decided to stop by the deli. There were a couple of people working behind the counter, one of the ladies was extremely friendly, she acknowledge that I was there and let me know that someone would be with me shortly, so in the mean time I browsed.
Finally a lady came to the counter and she had a little bit of a tude (attitude) she wasn’t smiling and wasn’t very friendly at all. My initial reaction was to give her attitude right back, but something told me not to go there. When I thought about it, I said to myself obviously this lady is going through something, she maybe having a bad day, she could have just lost a family member, she could be sick, who knows. I said all that to say

You just never know what someone maybe going through and everyone we encounter, or cross paths with has a story and even though we may not always get the opportunity to sit down and talk with them about it, or ask them what’s wrong we shouldn’t be so quick to react in a negative way, but instead to keep in mind that everyone goes through things and tomorrow it could be you

This Is My Life

We spend approximately 12 years of our lives trying to decide if we want to pursue higher education, and if so what exactly do we want to study and practice for the rest of our lives? I’m not sure how many of us actually spend that full 12 years thinking about this, but I’m inclined to think not many; however by the time we do start thinking about our future long term goal, many of us begin to look into careers that pay the most money to help dictate which direction we’re going to go in. Now don’t get me wrong that’s all fine and dandy, but how many people actually think about what their passionate about and not so much of who’s paying the most? I mean come on if you’re going to have to do this for the rest of your life shouldn’t it at least be something you enjoy? I just feel like if you’re doing what you are passionate about then you will excel in that beyond belief. As cliché’ as this is going to sound, I really believe in the saying that “If you do what you love you will never work a day in your life” and I’m sorry I don’t want to work hunny. This brings me to what this blog is all about.

It’s actually taken me about 6 years to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life. I went from nursing, to education, to social work, then psychology, and there was something in each one of those careers that I enjoyed, but none fit perfectly, until a couple of months ago when I started looking into Occupational Therapy. Occupational therapy is so rewarding for someone like me. I get to exercise all the things I’m passionate about. I get to work with patients; I get to teach by showing young and older people how to use their motor skills again after suffering from a stroke, or maybe a car or sports accident. Occupational therapy will also allow me to help patients cope with the different emotions they may experience while learning cognitive skills again which is where the Psychology comes into play.

Even though it’s taken me this long I am finally excited in knowing that I found what I love.

If you’re trying to figure out what direction to go in with life know that’s it’s never too late to change, really think about what your passionate about, and remember that the race is not given to the swift nor the strong, but to he that endures until the end (Ecclesiastes 9:11)

Staying Encouraged

Let me start off by saying that I have the BEST mom in the world, she’s always there when I need her and she knows just what to do when I’m down and could use a little bit of a “pick me upper”

So I’ve been going through what I guess some would call depression, but I’m learning that it’s just God’s way of keeping me humble and reminding me who’s God, and it’s not me.

Over the last couple of days I’ve surrendered to God and I’m learning to listen to his voice because I know he will NEVER steer me wrong; however, It’s not easy for me because I’ve been trying to control my own life(crazy right? Lol) but I’m going to take it one day at a time and I know I will get better.
Check out this book my mom gave me to help keep me encouraged. Can’t wait to start reading it

I'm in LOVE!

Insecurities?? Yea you got em to!!

Insecurities, whether we want to admit it or not we all have them right?

So, I started watching this series on the Dr. Phil show today about these 6 women from different walks of life who are there to get help from Dr. Phil on their individual issues, and there’s this one lady name Alana who use to be 320pounds and thru gastric bypass surgery has lost an significant amount of weight, she admits that she judges people all the time and she’s going through a divorce because of it, so I decided to go on Dr. Phil.com and read Alana’s story just to get a little more familiar with her, and what I discovered is she’s hurt, and she’s hurt because she was teased when she was overweight and since she’s lost the weight she tends to get back at other people (not the people who called her names) by being very assertive. She’s a very strong person because of her experiences.

I thought about her situation and I realize that a lot of us are like that including me. I think that just like Alana I have become a much stronger person because of the names I was called, or the insecurity I felt within myself when it comes to my appearance, not feeling like I measure up to others, not feeling like guys liked me, etc… and because of all the hurt I felt things don’t bother me as much as they use to; however at the same time it just masked my hurt it didn’t heal my hurt. I think it is so extremely important to get to know someone as an individual because we’ve all been through things that have shaped and molded our characters but the way we chose to deal with the hurt and pain we may feel or have felt can either make us a great person or a not so great person. We’ve had the opportunity (and still do every morning we wake up) to decide on how we’re going to let the circumstances we encounter shape us.

I’m definitely going to be watching this series. I sure I’ll be able to learn something that will help shape my character into the loving, sweet, and compassionate person that I want the world to see me as

Why I blog?

Other than me just having a love for writing , (Well I guess in this case it would be typing lol) I find putting my thoughts down whether it’s on paper or punching a few keys for me is really therapeutic and sure does beat posting it on facebook for people to either like or not like or on twitter where I have to squeeze all of my thoughts into 140 characters, sometimes that’s just not possible especially for someone like me who tends to be very “opinionated” I guess you can say. I tried Youtubbing and that just doesn’t work as well for me like blogging does; however it’s a great way to exercise and get comfortable with public speaking, because for some weird reason when I turn my camera on I get really nervous like I’m standing in front of an packed stadium…. then I look up and no one’s there… it’s just me looking into this small whole and this very dim white light starring back lol. To sum it all up I just like putting my thoughts down and it’s a whole lot cheaper than going to a “shrink”

Holga Anyone?

Over the last couple of years I've developed this love for capturing the world through my eyes in photography and before you ask, nooo I'm no where near a pro well not yet lol,but I hope to be really soon. So,when I discovered I had this love for photography I just had to get this digital camera. A really cute one by the way lol here take a look for yourself and you be the judge

Told ya it was cute, lol,but anyway I love this camera, but over the last couple of months I've really I mean really been into capturing vignette photos using lomography film... and guess what I found a camera that's not super expensive that will let me do that YAY! it's called a Holga Camera and it takes amazing picture. From what I've read so far it seems like it may be a little challenging at first when it comes to operating it,but it seems like it's going to be lots of fun. I can't wait to get one. I found out that urban outfitters carries them and ther not expensive... score! OK here's a picture of one and a picture that was taken with a Holga camera not by me of course, but it's AWESOME!

My Thoughts

So... I'm getting ready to start a new chapter in my life. I'm moving back to New Orleans in a week, after being gone for almost 10 years I have to admit, I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I see this as a opportunity to reconnect and form a relationship with my sister and brother.

I don't know what it is about New Orleans, but it's something about the spirit there that motivates and inspires me. It's something that I don't get here in Huntsville,AL.

Moving back is a little scary to because I think I've gotten comfortable here in Alabama which I guess is not good. I'm getting a clean slate again, an opportunity to make something great out of my life. New Enviroment,New Opprtuinity,New Job,New Friends. I just hope that I can stay motivated and become the person that lives inside of me that people rarley get to see.

Check out this picture if this rainbow I caught when I visited New Orleans a month ago

Split!!

I'm sure we've all heard the rumors of Christina Millian and The Dream separating, Welp! the rumors can be put to rest because the split is official. According to The Dream him and Christina have been separated since late 2009 but decided to keep it private to protect their new baby, but after pictures of The Dream and his "assistant" in the Caribbean together hit the net today he had no choice but to address and put the rumors to rest. It sucks when another black couple breaks up, but we wish them both individual success and good luck!

Harlem comes to Target!!

When Target first launched their designer collaborations, they called it Go! International - and pegged it on places like London (Luella), Paris (Paul & Joe), and Iran (Behnaz Serafpour - kind of).

Now they've gone back to that idea with their new Harlem line, collaborating with Ruben and Isabel Toledo and Stephen Burrows on some exclusive summer outfits.

Being true to their neighborhood, the clothes hit Harlem's Target store first (on July 25), followed by Target's website and select stores (on August 1).

Not only that you guys, the prices are incridible starting at $3.99 to $34.99 now tell me that aint great! and it get's better. Not only is the prices affordable, but 5% on every purchase will go to a Harlem non-profit. Isn't that awesome?? So be on the look out( I know I will be) for Harlem to hit your nearst Target!

Solange has Nervous Break Down

Vibe magazine interviewed Solange Knowles and talked to her about what we can expect from her new album. Solange say's the album is definitley going to be a dance album.
She also admitted that she allowed herself to give up her sanity in order to find herself as well as create a great album. In the interview with Vibe, Solange also talks about the nervous break down she expierenced while creating.

Here's a little bit of what Solange had to say about her nervous breakdown.
To read more visit
www.Vibe.com and Solange's personal blog at: www.mydamnblog.com

"There was definitely a little bit of a breakdown involved. I literally gave up my sanity for a while to do this record. To the point to where I started doing it in Santa Barbara and I had to relocate to L.A. because I was losing it. We literally were waking up in the morning and just making music all day and all night. We left the house maybe three times! It just started to wear on me in so many different ways. I started having these crazy panic attacks. I can say that I totally sacrificed so much mentally, emotionally and financially to get this record the way I wanted it to be. It’s more than an album to me. It’s a transitional time in my life. This is a dance record, but the lyrics can get pretty dark at times. It brought me closer to my family, my dude and my son. My mom, sister and brother all kept Julez for a week. Everybody canceled work when I was going through it".

The Real Black Barbie

She's baaaak! Yes! My girl Brandy a.k.a "Bran" is back to take her crown that she so rightfully deserves and I'm sooo excited (Can you tell I'm a superfan? hehehe) Make sure you check out Brandy's official website at: www.4EverBrandy.com

Chris Brown ft. Tyga "Deuces"

The Ultimate Merger

Sooo, Maybe I'm the only that didn't know that Omarosa has her own dating show on "TVOne" called "The Ultimate Merger" where 12 guys compete for her heart. The show is being produced by Donald Trump and is scheduled to air on June 17,2010 at 9pm ET fasten your seat belts this ought to be a interesting ride. O YEAH I forgot to mention R&B artist Al B. Sure is one of the men competing to win Omarosa
(and no I'm not kidding you he's really in for the win) lol!

Fearless

In September 2008 R&B Artist Jazmine Sullivan released her most anticipated album "Fearless" which sold millions worldwide, but lately we haven't heard much from her,Does anyone miss her as much as I do? Well don't worry because according to Ms. Sullivan she is in the studio working on a new album which will feature songs about love, but in the meantime for those who may have missed this performance check out the video below where she performed with Mary J. Blige at "S.O.S"

Was it murder????

I'm sure we all remember the tragic and very shocking death of actress Brittany Murphy who was found dead in her Hollywood Mansion on December 20,2009, Well on Sunday May 23,2010 just 5 months after her death her husband Simon Monjack was found and pronounced dead in the same Hollywood Mansion as his wife. Allegedly there are very similiar simularities in his death compared to the death of his now decesed wife(Brittany Murphy) Officials are claiming that Monjack died of "Cardiac Arrest", but the verdict is still out on that. Wow!! what a sad story. Something smells a little fishy to me. What do you think?? Stay tuned as this story unfolds. Real or Fake????

Ok, I confess I love the Real Housewives(Yeap all of them except Orange County) but I'm not sure how to feel about Danielle from Real housewives of New Jersey. last season Caroline and the rest of her family(Except Jacqueline) really gave her a hard time because of her past lifestyle and a tell all book that Danielle had written about her past, but in all fairness when I think about it, who are we or anyone else to be so judgemental and mean to someone because of their past when in reality we all have done things that I'm sure if we put in a book and had published for the world to see we would be embarrassed of,but I think sometimes it's easier to point the finger at someone else when we know that our secrets haven't been revealed. True I may not know everything about Danielle, but it appears to me that she seems to be very sensitive, she has a big heart and just wants to be accepted(Unless she's a really good actress and in that case she certainly deserves a Academy Award LOL!) It looks like Dina is FINALLY going to stand up to her sister Caroline on the next episode. I can say so much more on how I feel about Danielle, but I don't want to bore you;however, I don't know about you,but I can't wait to see what's to come.

Montag Vs. Mom

We all know Heidi Montag from the MTV hit show "The Hills" and more recently from all the buzz about her recent plastic surgery, but the latest news on Heidi has been how she called the Cops(Yes! the Cops) on here own mother. What could her mom have done to make Heidi call the Cops? Well here's how Access Hollywood is reporting it. Montag called the police after her mom Darlene Egelhoff showed up at her home on Thursday May 13,2010. If you watch "The Hills" on MTV you already know that the new season has kicked off and on the first episode Heidi goes to see her mom. During that visit Egelhoff(Heidi's mom) tell her that she doesn't like the plastic surgery that Heidi has under gone, Wellllll, apparently Heidi is upset with her mother for telling her that on national t.v and doesn't want anything to do with her. Egelhoff claims that she went to visit Heidi and to rescue her from her newly wed husband Spencer Pratt when Heidi called the cops on her mom to have her escorted off of the property. Heidi claims her mom just came over to cause drama in her life and wants nothing to do with her. As a matter of fact Heidi is planning on getting a restraining order against her mother. Has the fame become to much for Heidi or is Spencer holding her hostage and as her brainwashed. What do you think?

T.I.P

Your a "Snob"

Sorry guys, but this is another one for the ladies(lol) Ok,so I've never been a lipstick girl until I came across this lipstick by M*A*C called "Snob" and now I'm in love. Snob is a pink Satin Lipstick that goes on really smooth and is a great alternative to the normal colors that can get kinda boring, it's also a great color for the summer. You can wear it during the day or for a night out on the town with your girls or your man to give your outfit that little extra Pow!. If you don't have this lipstick what are you waiting for?!?!?! GO get it, I know I did and I love it!!!

"The Pen"

OK Ladies, If you don't know let me be the first to introduce you to (in my opinion) one of the Hottest guys out right now. He goes by the name Sean Garrett aka "The PEN" Sean was affectionately named "The Pen" by one of his friends Jay-Z who he lookes up to and admires. Jay-Z named his "The Pen" because of his creative ability to write and produce great music. Sean Garrett has written and produced music for some of the top artist of our time such Beyonce, Mario, Usher,Nelly,Ciara, and Fergie just to name a few; however, although he loved writting and producing his passion was and is to be a artisit,so now he has decided to come from behind the mixing board and go into the booth and record his own music. Sean has a single out right now entitled "Get It All" feat Nicki Minaj that you can get on Itunes. Ladies not only is he great eye candy he's also very talented so be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for what's next from Grammy award winner Sean Garrett
;0) Smooches!

All Natural

Going natural wasn't a really hard decision for me to make, but it was a decision that I thought about for quit sometime. I actually tried to go natural about 2 years ago and I got frustrated and went back to the "Creamy Crack" aka a "Relaxer" lol. This time around I did a lot of research via Youtube, Nappturality.com, Naturalsunshine.ning.com, and CurlyNiki on how to maintain my natural hair along with transitioning styles, as well as watching and reading other ladies videos for inspiration(and I gotta admit you guys have motivated me sooo much) as well as with the encouragment from my mom who also decided to go natural( Go Mom!) There are so many sterotypes when it comes to women who have made the decision to go natural, but one thing I know for fact since I've made my decision is it's a life changing experience. To be able to rock my natural hair and not be ashamed is a feeling that I can't describe. March 27,2010 almost two months ago marked the date that I decided to be happy with who I am to love my kinky coil, curly, nappy, or whatever you may call it hair no matter what anyone thinks it was hands down the best decision of my LIFE. I just want to encourage anyone who may be considering taking this journey to do it! Don't be afraid trust me you will LOVE it. I know I have and it's only been a month and half, but I am soooo looking forward to continuing this awesome awesome awesome journey, but above all else whether you natural,or relaxed, transitioning,or still contemplating Love you!!! Alright you guys, Feel free to comment below on your feelings about natural hair or if you have any questions hit me up.

Peace & Love

Sometimes being different is not always the easiest thing to do and it some cases it may not be the most popular thing to do, but when I think about it, some of the greatest people became great because they took a stand and decided to do something different. So I challenge you do practice Individuality from this day forward. Do whatever your heart desires no matter what anyone else may say or think and watch how your life will change, or maybe even how you may help change someone elses life. Be Blessed!
Feel free to comment below and let me and some of my followers know of a time where you practiced Individuality
